I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This chapter is taken from my own book, The Design Warrior's Guide to FPGAs (Devices, Tools, and Flows), ISBN: 9780750676045. Actually, despite its title, I think it's only fair to warn you that the Design Warrior's Guide doesn't actually teach you how to implement designs using FPGAs; instead, it provides a detailed introduction to a wide range of generic concepts, such as what FPGAs are, how they work, how you program (configure) them, different design flows for various styles of design (schematic-based, HDL-based, C/C++-based, DSP-based, embedded processor-based, etc.).Now, it may seem a little immodest for me to select a chapter from one of my own works as the opening topic in this book, but there ...
