So, in order to conduct the work of audit smoothly and efﬁ ciently, the auditor should take the following

steps:

3.5.1 AUDIT PLANNING

Audit planning is necessary for efﬁ cient and effective conduct of an audit. It should be continuously followed

throughout the course of audit assignment.

The main objectives of audit planning are:

i. to ensure that the auditing works are conducted efﬁ ciently and proﬁ tably and

ii. to ensure that high standards of audit works are maintained, so that the risk of litigation against the

practice for negligence is minimised.

It is important that audit should be carefully planned to ensure that the correct number of staff of the appro-
