In general, properties are assumed to be molar unless indicated differently. A corresponding extensive property is indicated by the superscript tot, for example, Htot = nH. In dealing with mixtures, a variable without subscripts or superscripts (e.g., H) is the molar property of the mixture; a property with a subscript (e.g., Hi) is the corresponding property of the pure component; a property with an overbar (e.g.,
i) is the partial molar property of the component in the mixture.
