In this chapter we had a look at the let expression and its friends if-let and when-let. We saw how let and company enable you to bind a name to a value as you compute it, a binding that lasts only as long as you need it. We’ve also seen how you can use let to organize and illuminate long sequences of computing by giving a name to each intermediate value. As usual, we also looked at some of the programming pits that you can fall into when using let—and happily discovered that those pits were both few in number and fairly easy to avoid.
