I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The Big Guns: The Searchable Plugin
So far, in this iteration we have implemented internal searches to add features for our users—and right nice features they are. But we’re hoping that more people than just the organizer and the existing volunteers will access this site. We want to make it easy for visitors to find an event in their area, or one related to their favorite technology. If we stumbled upon a site like this, the first thing we’d do is search for Groovy or Grails. Let’s add this type of search feature to TekDays.
We could create a search form with fields for all the searchable properties, and then we could use the Criteria Builder to dynamically build a query based on the user’s input—but that would be kind of lame. What we’ll ...
