I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Auto-completion
Everyone makes typos; no one can remember every parameter. Autocompletion can prevent many errors and helps you in many ways when you enter commands.
Autocompletion works for the following:
- Executables
- Aliases
- Shell built-ins
- Programs on the filesystem
- Filenames
- Parameters, if the utility supports it and the package bash-completion is installed
If the shell is configured in Emacs mode, use Ctrl + i to activate autocomplete; if the shell is configured in VI mode, use Ctrl + p.
If there is more than one possibility, you have to execute Ctrl + i or Ctrl + p twice.
