I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
An introduction to distributed systems
We have started the development of our client application; it will require some additional views and modifications. In order to continue with the development, we first need to set up our backend. For our application, we will need a service backend that will do the following:
- Provide static metadata about products
- Manage user profiles and maintain user-specific information
- Allow users to upload and publicly share data
- Index and search user uploads and shares
- Notify a set of users with real-time updates
Now, putting these requirements and our goal of creating a cloud infrastructure aside, let's try to imagine how we could implement a distributed system with an on-premise n-tier application setup:
