7General Control Approaches of a VSC
“One man's magic is another man's engineering. Supernatural is a null word.”
– Robert A. Heinlein
In this chapter, we will describe some of the control structures commonly used in a VSC. Since there are many books devoted to control structures and designs, this section is only intended as a brief introduction to the readers.
Reference Frame
For a three‐phase system, the voltages and currents can be described in various reference frames. Depending on which reference frame the power converter is chosen to be modeled, different types of the controllers will result. Thus, a brief introduction to different reference frames is given in this section.
