It is often said that the real work of coaching happens after a coaching session. That’s when you and your direct report actually put your conversation into practice, after all. But as a manager, how do you make sure to follow up appropriately? And how do you know whether your coaching is working?

After a coaching meeting, your direct report can quickly become aware of how difficult it is to balance new coaching commitments with the hectic demands of normal day-to-day work.
