Tackling negative images
I see myself looking foolish and awkward – as if I’d rather be anywhere else in the world right now. I’m shrinking away from the people I’m with. I’m stumbling over my words, sounding like someone who has only just started learning English. I know I’m making no sense at all. My face is absurd and ugly – pasty cheeks, sweat dripping from my forehead, skin blotchy with spots. And my hair looks like I’ve cut it myself.
As a species, we human beings pride ourselves on our thinking skills. Armed with our amazingly complex languages, we can logically analyse, plan, discuss and problem solve. The rest of the animal world doesn’t stand a chance ...
