Mind the gap

Once policy and objectives have been agreed, the next part of the IMS implementation process is to consider how far the management system has been integrated already. This may be quite irrespective of what the management system may say to the contrary. While this might be expected with management systems that have been combined to a greater or lesser extent, it might be found even where this hasn’t formally begun.

Interestingly, process staff (and especially their supervisory management) may not always be fully aware of how far they have integrated these processes; this is something to bear in mind when reviewing what needs to be done within an IMS implementation.
