Is it worth considering?

If an organisation already has, say, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, the process of external assessment to complete an IMS is comparatively straightforward: they will approach their CB to schedule an assessment. However, if an organisation is starting from scratch, the decision is more complex.

The key determinant with any assessment product is to decide why you want it. Some organisations believe that without external assessment they would not progress with continual improvement to the same degree. The other extreme would be to decide that you want a certificate simply to prove compliance with a number of standards.
