Azure VPN gateways are basically your core routers and firewalls within your Azure environment.
An Azure gateway can serve different purposes:
- Internet gateway
- Site-to-site VPN gateway
- Point-to-site VPN gateway
- ExpressRoute gateway
- VNet-to-VNet gateway
