It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

14.1 Recovery with VTAM Generic Resources
Use of generic resources increases the need to manage the association of LUs and VTAM
APPLIDs. An LU may now have affinity to a specific resource in the generic group which must
be managed to ensure that no important information is lost. Depending on how the VTAM
Generic Resources is defined, either IMS or VTAM may manage this affinity.
Affinities that should persist through a VTAM failure include LU 6.1 sessions, LU 6.2 sessions
with SYNCPT synchronization support, and multi-node persistent sessions.
