8.12 General data sharing recovery recommendations
After any IMS TM, or DBCTL failure:
Perform emergency restart as soon as possible to release retained locks and limit the
number of lock rejects.
Obtain and populate two CFs at least for your data sharing environment distributing the
placement of OSAM and VSAM structures on one CF and the IRLM structure on the other.
Define your CFRM policy with alternative CFs for structure rebuilds and install the
necessary environment so recovery from CF failures can be automatic.
Use FDBR.
The OS/390 ARM feature is also recommended to improve data access and application
availability.
