Preface

We have written this book for everybody who deals with data, information and knowledge. There aren’t many people who don’t. It is determinedly provocative and, we hope, challenging and uncomfortable. It challenges conventional wisdom and is based upon 15 years of our own research findings, including a quarter of a century of anecdotal evidence complete with project scars and commercially proven advice. Our research has been conducted over three continents with more than 70 C-level executives and board members. It is ethics-approved, peer-reviewed and published in highly ranked journals and conference proceedings.
