It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using Layers in an example drawing
Let's create the basic links for a blog. Some common parts of many blog sites are the blog header or banner, a sidebar with recent posts (or archives), an about section, recent posts, blog roll and/or a Links section, and a main content section that will contain all of the blog posts. Of course, you can get as fancy as you like here, or as simple, but let's design a site based on these simple sections so we can demonstrate how to use layers to create a design layout mockup.
