Apps, WIST and Android
It’s not the aim of this book to comprehensively review every music creation app available for the iPad – although that could be a subject for another volume. At the time of writing, there are over 7,000 music apps available, the majority also running (usually in some cut down form) on the iPhone.
The Apple Store’s definition of a music app is extremely wide ranging. Many are simply playback devices for recorded music – effectively new skins for the iTunes player. These do little more than re-arranging or re-categorising your existing iTunes library, sometimes adding a visual element to compensate for the fact that the iPad’s basic iTunes app has no Visualiser function.
