In 1999, my objective at Broadcast.com was to turn the Internet into a medium that would perform much like DirecTV of the Web. We were on a mission to reinvent broadcast communications.

Today, a decade later looking ahead to 2010 and beyond, the industry mission still seems to be the same: finish the bridge between on-air and online programming. I've always believed that the evolution of video would create opportunity, but the playing field has changed and the stakes have gone way up. Broadcast-quality SD and HD video, combined with the reach of the Internet, are beginning to offer remarkable new interactivity, personalization, and on-demand access for the viewer.
