18.0 Einleitung

Java verfügt über mehrere Methoden, um in anderen Sprachen geschriebene Programme auszuführen. Du kannst ein kompiliertes Programm oder ein ausführbares Skript mit Runtime.exec() aufrufen, wie ich in Rezept 18.1 beschreibe. Hier besteht eine gewisse Systemabhängigkeit, da du externe Anwendungen nur unter dem Betriebssystem ausführen kannst, für das sie kompiliert wurden. Alternativ kannst du eine der zahlreichen Skriptsprachen (oder dynamischen Sprachen) aufrufen - die ganze Bandbreite: AWK, bsh, Clojure, Ruby, Perl, Python, Scala - und javax.script verwenden, wie in Rezept 18.3 gezeigt wird. Oder du kannst mit Javas nativem Code-Mechanismus auf die C-Ebene heruntergehen und zwischen Java und kompilierten Funktionen, die inC/C++ geschrieben wurden, hin- und herschalten; siehe Rezepte 18.6 und 18.7. Java 22 verbessert dies mit der Schnittstelle Foreign Function and Memory (FFM), wie inRezept 18.5 beschrieben. Vom nativen Code aus kannst du Funktionen aufrufen, die in fast jeder Sprache geschrieben wurden.
