8章関数
この章ではJavaScriptの関数について説明します。関数は、JavaScriptプログラムの基本的な構成要素であり、ほとんどすべてのプログラミング言語で使える共通の機能です。JavaScriptの関数は、ほかのプログラミング言語で「サブルーチン」や「プロシージャ」と呼ばれているものと同じものです。
一度の定義だけで、プログラムから何度も呼び出し実行することができるJavaScriptのコード部分を、関数と呼びます。JavaScriptの関数を定義するときには、パラメータと呼ばれる識別子のリストを記述できます。このパラメータは、関数の本体ではローカル変数として働きます。関数を呼び出すときに、関数の引数として値を渡します。一般的に、関数はこの引数値を使って戻り値を計算します。この戻り値が関数呼び出し式の値になります。引数のほかに、関数呼び出しには、呼び出しコンテキストという値があります。この呼び出しコンテキストが、thisキーワードの値になります。
関数をオブジェクトのプロパティに代入した場合、そのオブジェクトのメソッドになります。あるオブジェクトに対してメソッドを呼び出すと、そのオブジェクトが呼び出しコンテキストになります。つまり、メソッド中のthisの値がオブジェクトになります。新たに生成されるオブジェクトを初期化するための関数をコンストラクタと呼びます。コンストラクタについては§6.2で触れましたが、9章でもう一度説明します。
JavaScriptでは、関数はオブジェクトですので、プログラムから操作できます。例えば、JavaScriptを使って関数を変数に代入したり、関数自体を別の関数に引数として渡したりすることもできます。関数はオブジェクトなので、関数に対してプロパティを設定したり、メソッドを呼び出したりすることもできます。 ...
