Description

Create a new user or update default new user information.

Syntax

useradd [options] LOGIN

Practical uses

  • useradd -m: Create the user's home directory if it does not exist.
  • useradd -s <shell>: The name of the user's login shell.
  • useradd -u <uid>: The numerical value of the user's ID.
  • useradd -g <group>: The group name or number of the user's initial login group.
