I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Decrypting WhatsApp backups
Luckily, there is a tool available to decrypt the backups. It can be found here, along with detailed instructions: https://andreas-mausch.de/whatsapp-viewer/. WhatsApp Viewer can be used to decrypt different versions of encrypted WhatsApp databases. In this example, we are going to decrypt its latest version, .crypt12:
- Go to File | Decrypt .crypt12….
- Choose encrypted database file and key file (can be found in the /files directory):
- Click the Decrypt… button and choose the location of the decrypted database file.
