If the image cannot be written to the SD card, an examiner can use netcat to write the image directly to their machine. netcat is a Linux-based tool that's used for transferring data over a network connection. We recommend using a Linux or macOS computer for netcat, as it is built-in, though Windows versions do exist. The examples that follow were performed on the SIFT workstation (Linux Ubuntu).
