13.1 INTRODUCTION

This chapter demonstrates the behaviour of light passing through various optical components. Optical components can be lenses, mirrors, prisms, beamsplitters, glass rods and tubes, filters, polarizers, gratings, etc. These components are used in the manufacture of optical devices and systems for many applications, such as telecommunications, imaging, scanning, and microscopy.
