Chapter 5. Chat Exercises and Techniques
Text-based chat allows the participants and trainer to communicate with one another through text messaging. Some version of chat is included in every synchronous classroom. It is most commonly used to ask questions or request technical assistance. While these are very valuable functions, there is so much more that can be done with this tool.
A public group chat room allows all of the participants to post and review each other's messages. Private messaging allows participants to signal difficulties without disrupting a session.
