When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

ometimes I have heard said disparagingly:
“Makers are just hobbyists” as though what
they do is insignificant. But one need only look at
efforts of the maker community to produce PPE
during Covid-19 to see a rapid response made
possible by the combination of skills, mindset and
networks of makers.
There are many
facets to the term
“maker,” which I’ve
regarded as its
strength. The term
“maker’ is versatile,
just like the people
who use it. Making can
be play and it can be
work; and for the truly
lucky, it is both. Also,
what you learn to do at
work can be applied to
your personal life, and
vice versa.
