I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

My kids want their own computers and they love
building kits, so I was thrilled to see a workshop
full of families building this Raspberry Pi-based
kit at Maker Faire. At home, my 9-year-old
son and I had fun following the giant blueprint
to assemble the laser-cut case and connect
the peripheral display and speaker. But this
kit does a lot more. It’s programmed with
a Minecraft-based “mission” that requires
you to build simple pushbutton circuits on
a breadboard to solve challenges within the
game, then use those buttons for game play.
