As of 2026, advanced AI models are being used to improve the way they are trained. This includes their overall management, how they are used, and helps design the next version or “model” of themselves. And this loop is now an important part of how AI systems are made. As AI systems write code and make themselves better, each new version makes the next one faster and more efficient.

The Intelligence Explosion

An intelligence explosion is when AI systems start improving themselves faster than people can. Better models, more efficient training, and improved reasoning. Then it crosses a line where each new version of the AI system helps create the next one, which is referred to as a model.
