By adding a Trail TypeData module to an emitter, you change it into what is known as a trail emitter. A trail emitter does essentially what its name says: It leaves a trail. This is done by emitting a series of particles as the emitter moves. Between these particles, sprites are drawn and are connected end to end to form the trail. Projectiles and flying vehicles often use trail emitters to create the effect of flying at high speed through the air.
It should be noted that at the time of this writing, only one trail can be emitted from a trail emitter at a time (see FIGURE 5.120).
