原書『Mastering Bitcoin』は、Bitcoinの技術を体系的に学ぶための定番書籍として、世界中のエンジニアに長年読み継がれてきた一冊です。この第3版の監訳に参加する機会をいただいたのは、同じく監訳者である鳩貝さんからのお誘いがきっかけでした。このような歴史ある技術書の翻訳プロジェクトに携わることができ、心より感謝しております。
本書の原著者の1人であるDavid A. Harding氏は、Bitcoin Optechで毎週ニュースレターを執筆されており、私はそのニュースレターの翻訳を行っています。今回の監訳を通じて別の形で関わることになったことに、不思議な縁を感じています。
第3版では、Taprootやシュノア署名といったBitcoinの最新のコンセンサスルールをカバーするなど、初版から大幅に内容が更新されています。原著が出版されてからいくらか時間が経過しましたが、その間に変更されたポリシーやビルドシステムなどについては、ひととおり訳注にて現時点の仕様をカバーするよう努めました。これらの内容が、日本のビットコインエンジニアの皆様がプロトコルへの理解を深め、開発や研究を進める際の一助となれば幸いです。
最後に、細かな修正に至るまで最後までご尽力いただいたオライリー・ジャパンの関口さんと翻訳を担当頂いた長尾さん、ともに監訳頂いた鳩貝さんに深く感謝申し上げます。
