When working with grids, it's important to remember how many columns your grid uses. With Bootstrap 4, there are 12 columns by default. It is possible to change this using Sass variables. Changing the $grid-columns variable has a big impact on how our column size classes work:
$grid-columns: 16;
For example, if we chose a 16-column grid for our application, our .col-3 and .col-9 columns together would only cover three-fourths of the width of our container, leaving four unused columns.
