In a digital system, there is the requirement to transport the source material to the display. Most often this will be a series of cables connected between them. As systems gain complexity, more specialized cables will be added, including fiber optic and wireless transmission. In addition, distribution may include re-clocking signals as well as duplicating them for multiple displays. If the display does not have the ability to use a certain signal, altering the information may be required in the distribution system.
