Remember that current PCs do not use the 8086 processor and therefore we cannot use the
PC for a rst level understanding of interfacing. However, the PC uses many interfacing chips
in its ‘chipset’. Now, we will try to understand the idea of ‘interfacing’ by the use of a trainer kit
which has been designed for educational purposes. As the name indicates – it will have all the
hardware and software components for ‘training’. e trainer kit used here has the following
speci cations (see Fig 9.1).
