Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook can help you with various tasks around summarizing or generating content. It can summarize a particular email thread or create a draft email while responding to a thread. It can even create a whole new email. Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook can also coach you on tone and content after you’ve written an email. Like the other components and concepts we’ve covered so far, the use of Copilot is not intended to replace our basic human ability to communicate but rather to support and enhance it!

We will first look at using Microsoft 365 Copilot for summarization in Outlook. This will then be followed by digging into using it for the generation of content as well as tapping into its coaching features.

TIP Get in the habit of turning on Draft with Copilot or Coaching by Copilot with every email response you send, especially for longer, more complex email threads. While you may not always use what’s generated, incorporating this habit into your workflow will improve efficiency and productivity over time.

NOTE While Outlook includes additional features like To Do, Notes, RSS Feeds, Address Book, Org Explorer, and Groups, Microsoft 365 Copilot currently focuses primarily on email generation and summarization, as well as calendar analysis.
