We initially set out to have this appendix contain a list of resources for you to draw on whenever the inevitable questions arise while you're developing your databases. But we soon realized that we could provide an invaluable bonus just by compiling several of our own database tools into one file. So, in addition to providing you with the database models and explaining the rationale for their design, we are giving you the Bonus Resource database that includes some tools to help you analyze, work with, and create your own database solutions.
Our Favorite Starting Points
When you first start searching for help online, chances are you will be inundated with a lot of hits. Then you are faced with not only finding a reference that really relates to your specific issue, but you also need to know that you are getting good advice. To help you get started, we, the writers and the editors, would like to share some of the sites that we usewhenwe are looking for inspiration and help. These include newsgroups, blogs, personal or group sites, and forums. Since most of the resources listed here are online, we have provided the information in electronic format on the book's CD, as well as here in the book. After all, database developers are all about eliminating duplicate effort!
