A side-by-side layout is often used to present an item—a picture, a title, or a topic, for example—in one paragraph, along with a description or an explanation of the item in the adjacent paragraph. It’s easy to create this type of layout using a Word table. With a table, the contents of the two paragraphs are always side by side, regardless of their size or category.
On the Insert tab, click the Table button, and drag out a two-row-by-two-column table. Resize the columns to the size you need, and format each cell with the appropriate paragraph style.
