We often hear that disk space is cheap and that we should not be too concerned if databases are growing at an excessive rate. Just buy more disks. Well, what most managers do not realize is that we are not talking about disks that you buy at some large electronic store. Microsoft SQL Server and other RDBMSs require fast redundant sets of disks.
