It’s time for that ambitious, sprite, idealistic version of you (who you’ve been suppressing for the past five chapters) to come out and play. We’ve extolled the virtues of going small. And now, as we lay the foundation of the Microwins System, it’s time to go big.
First, give yourself some credit. You did a lot of hard and heavy lifting in the Mindset section of this book. Many of those deep dives asked you to tap into a level of vulnerability that may have felt uncomfortable. Thinking about one’s own death is an emotionally taxing thought experiment. But, you did the work and if you’re reading this section, then you’ve separated yourself from the vast majority of people who start self-help books. Most of them ditch the text and revert to their status quo before reaching the book’s midpoint. You’ve reached the point of no return. Keep going. Let’s talk about macrowins.
What Is a Macrowin?
I can hear you saying, “Is this a typo? I thought this book was about microwins.”
This book is about microwins, but let’s take a step back for a moment. Microwins are small units of victory that feed into big goals. The question arises, “Well, what are those big goals?” That’s where macrowins come in.
Remember when you learned about prefixes and suffixes back in grade school? If not, don’t worry. The prefix macro is a derivative of the Greek word makr, meaning “long, tall, high, or large.” Therefore, a macrowin is a bawdy aspirational goal.
