aerial perspective

analogous

aperture

The opening in a camera lens that lets light through.

Aperture Priority

Exposure mode where the photographer sets the aperture value and the camera determines the shutter speed for the exposure.

APS

Advanced Photo System; a class of digital camera sensor sizes smaller than full frame.

asset management

The hardware, software, and organizational systems used to store digital files.

backlight

When the main source of light is behind the subject.

background

The part of the picture farthest from the camera.

ball head

A type of tripod head that connects the camera to the tripod with a large rotating ball secured by clamps.

body of work

A collection of imagery representing the artist's unique vision.

bokeh

The way a particular lens blurs objects when they are completely out of focus.

bracketing

Making a series of images with slight changes in settings.

build quality

The standards of materials and construction used to manufacture camera equipment.
