This chapter introduced you to some aspects of the GraphQL query language. A GraphQL interface works on the same level as REST, but GraphQL is much more flexible than REST because, in your query, you can also directly specify the structure of the response. Furthermore, you’re not limited to resources, but can also load entire dependency trees with just one request, if the interface permits it.
However, you should keep in mind that everything the interface permits must be implemented in the form of resolver functions. GraphQL just provides you with a simple way of input validation and alerts you to errors in query formulation if you violate GraphQL’s type system.
