Node.js isn’t the only server-side JavaScript platform, but it’s by far the most widely used. However, one solution clearly stands out from the competition for several reasons. For example, there is the developer of the competing platform: Ryan Dahl. This name should sound familiar from Chapter 1. Correct—that’s the guy who invented Node.js. Dahl announced Deno in a speech called “10 Things I Regret about Node.js.” Interestingly, Dahl gave this speech at the same jsconf.eu event as his announcement of Node.js years earlier.
