So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Bez wątpienia nowości wprowadzone w Javie 8, szczególnie wyrażenia lambda i API Streams, stanowią gigantyczny krok naprzód dla tego języka. Już od kilku lat używam Javy 8 i opowiadam o niej na konferencjach, podczas warsztatów i we wpisach na blogu. I choć lambdy i strumienie zapewniają temu językowi nieco bardziej funkcyjny charakter (i ułatwiają stosowanie technik przetwarzania równoległego), to nie te cechy decydują o atrakcyjności tego języka dla programistów. Jego największą zaletą stała się możliwość łatwego i efektywnego rozwiązywania pewnych rodzajów problemów.
Jako programistka, prelegentka i pisarka najwięcej przyjemności czerpię nie z omawiania ewolucji języka Java jako takiej, lecz z pokazywania ludziom, jak ta ewolucja ułatwia ...
