Extreme Applications
9.1 Introduction
Not every circuit is destined to be used in a nice environment. Some are destined to go into extreme environments, or applications where failure is simply not an option. While military op amps have been available for a long time for deployment in temperatures that range from −55 to 125°C, military environments are no longer the most severe. Space, oil exploration (downhole), and geothermal environments have much greater temperature extremes, as well as potentially damaging mechanical vibration and shock requirements.
