Chapter 5. Treo
Hacks 29–33: Introduction
The other chapters in this book cover the PDA functions of a Treo (or other Palm device) in great detail. This chapter focuses on the phone features that are specific to Treos.
The combination of a full-featured PDA with a cell phone enables you to do things that you can’t do with either one alone. Smartphones really are the future of PDAs and cell phones. As the technology improves, there will be better integration of features and eventually higher data transfer speeds. For now, this chapter helps you smooth out some of the inevitable rough spots.
The Treo combines many of the PDA and phone features nicely. These hacks cover the gaps for things like ringtones and voice dialing. You will also learn about specialized Treo functions such as using your Treo as a modem or participating in conferences on the move. You also learn how to set up a master application that will help you get the most out of your Treo.
