So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 6. Communications
Hacks 34–41: Introduction
With the introduction of wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular) into Palm devices, a whole range of new applications opened up. Even with these newer technologies, some vintage applications still workwith the serial or infrared port.
The hacks in this chapter cover a range of ideas from connecting to the Internet to controlling your home theater. As wireless transfer speeds increase in the future, you will see more possibilities open up. You will also see merging of different applications—using voice and data transfers together at the same time.
Communications weaves through other areas as well. Multiplayer games depend on different communications technologies. Collecting information for use in other applications is easier with improved communications technology (e.g., browsing the Web), as is transferring that information to other people.
As communications technology changes in the future, the chances are good that Palm devices will adapt as well.
