When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Building the report
Now that we have talked about the layout for the penetration testing report, it is just a matter of taking all the information that we obtained and putting it into our logical structure we just talked about.
Typically, start with your first draft. The first draft will always be the hardest, but most of the time and effort go into this step. Start with the sections you feel you are ready for and go back to the others as you finish the ones you are most comfortable with first. I tend to follow the following process:
- Start by putting all the main headings in first.
- Then, go back and put all the main sections within the heading next.
