Context Collection, User Tracking, and Context Reasoning

Context refers either to aspects of the physical world or to conditions and activities in the virtual world. As a kernel technique, context awareness plays a key role in pervasive computing. By context awareness, pervasive systems can sense their environments and adapt their behavior accordingly.

This chapter introduces how to collect pervasive context through wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and then presents a user tracking scheme in Section 3.2. Finally, Section 3.3 discusses various reasoning models and techniques, together with performance evaluation.
