It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring the Scanner
As mentioned earlier, you shouldn’t just plug in the scanner, install it, and
accept the defaults. (While the defaults might work for the home or office
user, they are not set up for screen printers and artists.) Not all scanners
are alike either, and some are better than others at producing good scans.
In this section, we learn how to calibrate your scanner and find out how
good the scanner actually is. Once you know what your scanner’s limita

tions are, you can create a curve in Photoshop to apply to each scan you
make so that these limitations are less noticeable and you produce better
scans.
