So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

software to your computer, you can skim most of this section. If
you’ve never heard of any of these, don’t worry—this section walks you
through the process of installing Git for the first time.
Git has its heritage in the Linux world. It was originally meant to be downloaded as source code and compiled. Most modern distributions of Linux have a version of Git in their package repositories, and both Fink[7] and MacPorts[8] have Git packages. If you’re on Windows, several options will get Git up and running, which you’ll learn about in Installing on Windows.
